Tampon Monster

“Congratulations! Your Kickstarter project has been accepted”

Ahhh what a nice email to wake up to. With all the shit I usually have in my inbox, I almost missed this small, but VERY important email notifying me that our proposal has been accepted. YAY!!!!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Kickstarter, it is a website where you can propose an artistic project and ask people to donate money to it. You have a set monetary goal and a certain amount of time to meet it (I think its 90 days) People donate money, however much or little they want, and in return you provide rewards, like photos, prints, books, etc that all relate to your project. Here’s the catch, its an all or nothing deal. If your proposed goal is $5000, and you only get $4500 funded, you don’t get any money.

When Val and I heard about this site, we were like, fuck yeah! A way to get our names/art out there AND get some money to fund our trip? Sign me up. So after weeks of hemming and hawing, tweaking and fiddling with our proposal, we were finally ready to send it in. And they accepted us yesterday!

So now…we have to make a video and sell our story on the site so that people will feel very generous and donate some money. We’ll write a new post when we have our project up and running on the website.

I’m super excited about this!! Can’t you tell with all the exclamation points?

I was so pumped I went out and got a new camera! Along with some other things.

Now that is a photo album that Hallmark would definitely not have.
Nor the Creative Cursing. I mean, I love the word Fuck, but Tampon Monster? Can’t really compete with that. Or whore wipe. Or muff fungus….
